118 years ago today, Theodor Seuss Geisel (Dr. Seuss) was born.
Dr. Seuss hustled to get his first children’s book published, but it was a struggle. Before he was one of the most famous authors in the world, he faced constant rejections from publishing companies, 26 to be exact. On the day he was ready to burn his manuscript and leave writing behind forever, he received his first offer.
Presented here is a rare illustration by Seuss "Drunk Again, The Seven Lady Godivas" 1939 Ink and watercolor on paper, 18 × 11 in. Signed to the lower left.
